Commune School Complex in Kazimierz Dolny, address: ul. Szkolna 1, telephone number: (+48 81) 881 00 83, fax number: (+48 81) 881 02 58.

The Commune School Complex was established on September 1, 2007, as a result of a merger of three schools: elementary school, middle school and high school.

The programme of the elementary school comprises a six-grade curriculum and it also offers extra-curricular activities, such as history club, dance group and choir. As a part of social activities, the PE teacher occasionally takes children to a swimming pool.

The middle school was established in 1999. Students have an opportunity to learn two foreign languages here: English and German. The school has a computer room with Internet access, it also offers extra-curricular activities, works with local institutions, and its educational offer is diversified owing to additional nature and history classes taught at the historical sites of Kazimierz Dolny and in the Kazimierz Landscape Park.

Between February 1, 2010, and December 21, 2010, the school offered extra English, maths and entrepreneurship classes under the “Middle School Tourism and Education Centre” – a programme co-financed by the European Social Fund.

The high school has grades one through three. The school analyses the needs and expectations of the students, and introduces extended curricula for certain school subjects. It has a well-equipped computer room, and it offers extra classes for students who are preparing for their final exams (matura). English and German classes are mandatory.

 

2nd Elementary School in Kazimierz Dolny, address: Dąbrówka 23, telephone/fax number: (+48 81) 881 02 02.

The school in Dąbrówka helps its students develop their potential and offers a wide range of educational activities. The educational programme promotes universal and timeless moral values which respect the Christian hierarchy of values. The main advantages of the school include: thorough preparation of students to further education, highly-qualified and experienced pedagogical staff, the teachers’ willingness to pursue extra tasks, using stimulating teaching methods, single-shift schedule, classes taught in small groups of students, computer room with Internet access, English language teaching as early as in the 1st grade, introduction of second foreign language in the 4th grade (German), computer basics as early as in 2nd grade, an attractive collection of extra-curricular activities, fruitful cooperation with parents.

 

Elementary School in Bochotnica, address: ul. Zamłynie 1, telephone number: (+48 81) 882 84 64. The school district covers Bochotnica and three villages located 3-5 km away – Parchatka, Zbędowice and Wierzchoniów. The school offers six school forms and one kindergarten form. Apart from the scope of the basic educational offer, the school also has its folk band – “Ekolki” – consisting of second- to sixth-graders. Folk culture classes familiarize children with the world of Polish traditions and culture, and kids learn singing and dancing. The band renders its school famous and performs not only during local festivals, but also in other regions and cities. The students can broaden their knowledge on nature in the school Environmental Club. During such extra classes, they study and analyse the environment, and they have a chance to actively engage in environmental protection and to observe the interrelations in the world of nature. The students who are fond of sports can pursue their interests and polish their skills by participating in the Student Sports Club. The Club provides them with a chance to take up particular sports disciplines, such as football, basketball or table tennis. The school also has an art club and a day-care room, which takes care of the school theatre.

For four years now, the school has been participating in the contest entitled “We shape the identity of the landscape” (Polish: “Kształtujemy tożsamość krajobrazu”), organized by the Lublin Region Schools Superintendent, and it won the first prize in 2004. In 2006 and 2007, the school was given a winner’s cup for overall achievements. The tangible result of the Contest was the comprehensive development of the area around the school, which entirely changed its image in the local community, as well as the fact that the school was given the title of an Environmentally Aware School. In 2002/2003 academic year, the school was awarded the Classy School (Polish: Szkoła z Klasą) Certificate. The merits of the school were also recognized in the competition organized by Radio Lublin, which awarded the school with the title of School of Excellence (Polish: Szkoła na Szóstkę).

 

Elementary School in Rzeczyca, address: Rzeczyca 69, telephone number: (+48 81) 881 07 98. The school teaches children residing in Rzeczyca, Kolonia Rzeczyca and Witoszyn. Owing to a relatively small number of children in a single class, everyone knows everyone else, and the teachers can guarantee safety to the pupils in their charge and work with every student individually. The school runs several interest clubs, including theatre, natural science, computer and the Polish language clubs. The school has a well-equipped computer room, a renovated pitch, a small gym and a library. The youngest pupils who live relatively far from the school spend their time after classes at the after-school club. Children learn English and computer basics as early as from the 1st grade. Owing to the fruitful cooperation with parents, the school organizes local festivities, celebrates Grandmother's and Grandfather’s Days, Carnival and organizes other events which integrate the local community.

 

Community Elementary School in Skowieszynek, address: Skowieszynek 9, telephone number: (+48 81) 881 01 80.

The first academic year at this school commenced on September 1, 2006. The school was established as a replacement for the closed branch of a public school. The parents, other residents and friends of the school who care about Skowieszynek and its environs decided to register an Association for the Development of Skowieszynek Village and then they established a community school. Currently, the school teaches a dozen or so children, including a few cute preschoolers in a reception class. The school offers several after-school activities, including theatre, natural science and computer clubs. Since October 1, 2009, “Promyk” Kindergarten Centre has been operating at the school. It provides care and education for children aged 3-5 years.

 

Jan Koszczyc-Witkiewicz School Complex in Kazimierz Dolny, address: ul. Nadwiślańska 9, telephone number: (+48 81) 881 05 58

The school was founded in 1918 by Jan Koszczyc-Witkiewicz to be a School of Construction Crafts. Today, the School Complex comprises the following schools: Technical College, High School, Basic Vocational School, Supplementary High School and Post-Secondary School.

In the Technical College, students can learn the profession of a hospitality technician and a logistics technician. In the 2010/2011 academic year, they will also be able to prepare for the profession of a stucco moulding and art stone working technician.

The Basic Vocational School trains students in various professions in a multi-vocational class, and in the profession of a locksmith in a locksmith class. Basic Vocational School graduates pursue a 2-year programme of the Supplementary High School, and High School graduates pursue a 2-year programme of the Post-Secondary School to learn the profession of a hospitality technician or a rural tourism technician.

The college was established in the 2001/2002 academic year. It offers 3-year bachelor’s degree programmes in two majors: graphic design and painting. The courses are conducted by professors and lecturers at the Faculty of Art at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (Polish: Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej, UMCS), as the College is a part of its branch campus. The school has its own workshops and classrooms for educational and artistic work. The College also offers postgraduate studies in photography for graduates of higher education institutions. Recruitment process for the BA and postgraduate courses runs through the UMCS website.

The kindergarten caters for children aged 3-6 years (handicapped children up to 8 year of age). The kindergarten is open September 1 through June 30 between 6.30 am and 4.00 pm (the reception class between 8.00 am and 1.00 pm). Children at the kindergarten receive meals which their parents pay for. The educational programme implemented in the kindergarten employs activities which stimulate cognitive development, promote self-reliance and develop various skills and abilities. The institution organizes additional classes based on the suggestions from the children’s parents and in accordance with the children’s personal interests: speech therapy, foreign language classes (English), music and rhythm activities, religion (for six-year-olds), library lessons, computer activities and early support of child development.
